Dear Mr. Klein:

Thank you for giving us the opportunity to review and comment on the proposed kitchen addition.

The addition is very sensitive to the house. While demolition of the existing, original hipped roof kitchen addition is required, we note that it is on a rear elevation, and does not affect a character-defining feature of the house. Since the plans call for removal of outside bearing walls, proper structural reinforcement of the second floor framing will have to be included in the working drawings. We would like to have an opportunity to review the structural drawings in advance of construction, and to make site inspections during and after completion of the project.

The proposed kitchen addition is hereby approved with the requirement that the structural plans be submitted for review and approval prior to construction.
